Where you store crypto matters just as much as what you buy. The core tradeoff is convenience versus security.
Hot Wallets – Connected to the internet (exchange accounts, mobile/browser wallets). Convenient for trading and quick access, but more exposed to hacks, phishing, and exchange failures.
Cold Wallets – Offline storage (hardware wallets, paper wallets). Far more secure against online attacks, but less convenient for frequent trading and you're fully responsible for not losing the device/seed phrase.

A common approach: keep only what you actively trade on a hot wallet/exchange, and move longer-term holdings to cold storage.

Whatever you use, your seed phrase is the actual key to your funds — anyone with it has full access, and if you lose it with no backup, the funds are gone permanently.

Hot, cold, or a mix — what's your current setup?
