Adding crypto as a payment option sounds complicated but doesn't have to be for a small site. A few things that make it manageable:
  • Use a payment processor/gateway instead of handling wallets directly unless you really know what you're doing - it removes most of the technical and security burden.
  • Decide upfront how you'll handle volatility. Auto-converting to fiat on receipt avoids the headache of your revenue swinging with the market.
  • Stick to a couple of well-supported coins rather than trying to accept everything - it keeps support requests manageable.
  • Be upfront about confirmation times in your checkout flow so customers aren't confused about why a payment isn't "instant" like a card.
Anyone running crypto payments who'd add something to this list?
