Exchange fee structures confuse a lot of new traders. The maker/taker model is the most common, and it's simpler than it sounds. Maker – You place an order that doesn't execute immediately (a limit order sitting on the order book), adding liquidity. Makers usually pay lower fees because they're providing depth to the market. Taker – You place an order that executes immediately against existing orders (a market order), removing liquidity. Takers usually pay slightly higher fees for that instant execution. If fees matter to your strategy (especially for frequent trading), using limit orders instead of market orders can meaningfully reduce what you pay over time. Do you actively trade around maker/taker fees, or mostly just use market orders for simplicity?
