Curious how everyone here actually decides between hosting providers once you get past the marketing pages. Price is obviously part of it, but I'm more interested in what tips the scale once a few options look similar on paper.
For me it usually comes down to how fast and how human their support is when something breaks at 2am, plus how honest their uptime numbers actually turn out to be once you've been with them a few months rather than what the sales page claims.
What's actually swung your decision one way or another - support quality, raw performance/benchmarks, DDoS protection, ToS flexibility for the kind of sites you run, or something else entirely? And has a provider ever looked great on paper and then let you down in practice?
